Ashes to Ashes

Billy’s Curse

A Letter to Megan

When I was a young man people always told me,
don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t you fight and stay clean.
But not every kid grows up as the man that they want him to be,
cuz there is more to it, there is more for me, I just wanna roam free

And who needs money when you´ve got good looks,
cuz the answer to life can’t be learned from a book.
For a lesson you’ve lived is a lesson you’ve learned
so the second time you won’t get burned. (again and again.)

And when it’s my time to go, let me go, with a nice glass of whisky and a pleasing pill.
Cuz I don’t wanna grow old, or ill, be going downhill.
There´s a life that’s worth living, an inevitable death,
whether you die battle or in a hospital bed.
When your fists, hard as steel eventually they´ll rust,
ashes to ashes, and your blood turns to dust.

Cuz when shit hits the fan will you stand by your fellow man,
or will you, just turn and run.
Down the barrel of a gun you live fast you die young,
and looking back, you can see,
where it all went wrong. “WHERE IT ALL WENT WRONG!”

Then his fall broke the silence,
in his hand a shattered glass.
And his comrades they all stood beside him,
reliving glory that once was.

And they made out a toast to the ones they loved most.
They were wearing their crowns as they were drinking it down.
There´s no shedding of tears only laughter and cheers.
And that’s all you´ll see, and that’s all I want it to be, for me.
